Discover more about the Constitution and its founders such as Philly's favorite elder statesman, Benjamin Franklin. Head for Lights of Liberty evening tour and travel back to the 18th century on a guided walk through Philly's historic area. Walk past larger-than-life projections of revolutionary heroes, the rabble, and the Redcoats and listen to Ossie Davis (or Whoopi Goldberg on the children’s version) who deliver commentary via your headphones. You can feel like part of the action with the background of horses' hooves, mob cries, and cannon shots. Another option is Once Upon A Nation's history tours where colonial characters are also plentiful. Philadelphia boasts matchless museums, an imaginative zoo, and an expansive park system. Visit the Franklin Institute Science Museum, famous for its huge walk-through heart and hundreds of hands-on exhibits, children of all ages can measure the height of their basketball jumps, learn how angles help ace tennis games, and discover the secrets of the stars at Fels Planetarium. You may relish more than 9,200 acres for play at Fairmount Park, along with housing the Rodin Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There are over 1,500 animals at the Philadelphia Zoo that recently presented its new "Bank of America Big Cat Falls" exhibit, a dramatic habitat for lions, leopards, jaguars, and tigers. You may also take your family camping in the zoo and observe the animals in "night mode" without the daytime crowds. Book overnights well in advance. You should not leave the city without eating an authentic Philly cheese steak, offered from delis, street vendors, and also at the Reading Terminal Market, the nation's oldest continuously operating farmer's market. You may also try the booths piled high with vegetables, fruit, Amish baked goods, Middle Eastern salads, and lots of other treats. Sail the Delaware River on the River Link Ferry and arrive at Camden, New Jersey's Adventure Aquarium. The main attractions here include a 40-foot tunnel where toothy sharks swim above and around you, a West African river habitat, home to hippos and 20 species of birds, and Deep Sea-4D, a special-effects film that whisks you to the bottom of the ocean floor. Sesame Place is another experience near Philadelphia, 30 minutes north of the city in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The park is aimed at ages 2 to 12 and combines water-themed play areas with Sesame Street characters. You may splash down slides here, stroll through Bert and Ernie's house, and experience the rides at Elmo's World, a new exhibit in the park.
