Busch Gardens Africa Tampa Bay is a 335-acre African-themed park located in Tampa, Florida. The park was opened on March 31, 1959 as an admission-free hospitality facility for the Tampa Anheuser-Busch brewery and today is one of America's largest zoological institutions, featuring more than 2,000 endangered and exotic animals. Attractions here are: Rhino Rally, Congo River Rapids, KaTonga, Montu, Kumba, Scorpion, Gwazi, Edge of Africa, and the new vertical dive coaster SheiKra. Busch Gardens Africa Tampa Bay is located about 20 minutes from the downtown area in the northern part of the Tampa city limits; it borders the town limits of Temple Terrace.
Busch Gardens Africa Tampa Bay is open 365 days a year. It can be crowded during the holiday breaks, but try after Labor Day, before Thanksgiving or during Presidents' week.
Animals tend to be more active in the morning. The lines for the major coasters and water rides get longer as the day goes on. Anyway check the show schedules online before you arrive, come early and start at the back of the park, working your way to the front.
